After fourteen years of a difficult life in a circus, on February 12, 2007, Zezinho arrived at the Anami Conservation Institute. Highly humanized, he constantly sought contact with the staff, vocalizing to get the attention of anyone passing nearby.
Nowadays, he practically ignores people. He lives with five other chimpanzees and has chosen Maria as his companion. The two are often seen displaying affection and companionship.
He has a hammock and blankets to spend the nights, but he prefers to sleep in Maria’s hammock, together with her. Zezinho is considered a calm and very affectionate chimpanzee. He rarely fights or argues with those around him. He is very intelligent and knows how to live in a group, enjoying his meals peacefully and organizing his food as if he were setting the table.
