Gilberto arrived at the Sanctuary in 2002, coming from a former commercial breeding facility that existed in southern Brazil. At this location, he was used as a breeding male.

Consequently, Gilberto is the father of several chimpanzees, some of whom also live in the Sanctuary and some he never met, as they were sold as commodities in the first days of their lives.

At the Sanctuary, Gilberto lives with his family in one of the largest groups. He loves playing with the young ones, is an excellent father, and, at the same time, is a dominant male and very territorial, always protecting the members of his group.

Noel is very sociable, polite and loves to watch every movement of the cars, because from his enclosure he visualizes the garage and the movement of the employees. He is known as an “engineer” as he is very smart in everything he does. Like his brother, Emílio, when he is suspicious he has the same look as his mother, Margarete.

Daughter of Ditty and Gilberto. Since she was born, she has lived in a group with her family. She is a very strong and feisty female, just like her mother Ditty when she was younger. She takes good care of her daughter, Sol, and is always a part of the group's activities, teasing everyone to get what she wants.

She is the youngest of the Sanctuary. She is very active and smart. She plays with everyone in her family, especially with her father, Gilberto. She is always close to the chimpanzee Sol, interacting and learning from her.
