Tota Chimpanzee
She arrived at the sanctuary in 2010 and is the oldest chimpanzee at the Institute. Today she lives with Carol, Caíque and Leila, with whom she has an intense maternal relationship. Tota doesn't look her age. She is very active during the day and very methodical with her schedules, especially at mealtimes. Every day she sets up her nest to rest and loves the fruit treats that are offered in the late afternoon. She always vocalizes in a gesture of thanks.

Female. DOB: 1979, approximately, in a zoo in Lisbon. After some time at this zoo, Tota was transferred to a Brazilian zoo, where she lived with a group of three individuals.
