Simon, whom is kindly called by the nickname Sam, used to live at Artis Zoo Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. He arrived at the Great Apes Sanctuary of Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil in 2004, together with Rakker, who had a more difficult integration time at the zoo. 

He is a little agitated, suspicious and very temperamental; loves to play running when he is in a good mood, but sometimes he is a little moody and remains more reserved. Today he lives a little with Rakker and a little with female Francis. He gets along very well with both and respects Rakker’s traumas, being very good and patient with him. He is very admired by Francis, who is always behind him. Although they are reserved, they really enjoy each other’s company.
