He arrived at the Sanctuary in 2005. He lived for ten years at the Curitiba zoo, and before arriving at the zoo he was raised as a pet by a family in São Paulo, in a 25m² cage in the backyard. He arrived at the Sanctuary without two fingers on his right hand and it is not known how he lost them, as little is known about his past. Johnny is cheerful, affectionate, smart and loves to stay on the walkway of his enclosure, where he makes nests to sleep with several blankets and be very comfortable. He loves drinking water straight from the hose or bottles and grooming with his caregivers.
